Sarasota Police Swearing In Ceremony & LETF Donation Event
SARASOTA, FL – October 2, 2018 – 10 a.m.
On Friday, October 5, 2018 at 2 p.m., Sarasota Police Chief Bernadette DiPino will hold a swearing in ceremony and Law Enforcement Trust Funds (LETF) donation event. Community members and media are invited to attend.
The following personnel will be sworn-in as Police Officer 2nd Class Probation:
- Giovanni Gonzalez
- Michael Pangallo
- Eric Tomlinson
- Eric Urbain
- Shane Ward
Chief DiPino will also be donating LETF funds to local community organizations that teach crime prevention and drug abuse prevention education. The groups that will receive donations include: Booker High School for the College and Career Ready Program ($3,000), The Florida Center for Early Childhood for Early Childhood Court ($2,895) and Teen Court of Sarasota for Camp X-Ray’d (Examine Reality About Your Decisions) ($2,700).
According to Florida Statute for State Law Enforcement Trust Funds, any local law enforcement agency that acquires at least $15,000 pursuant to the Florida Contraband Forfeiture Act within a fiscal year, must expend or donate no less than 25 percent of such proceeds for the support or operation of any drug treatment, drug abuse education, drug prevention, crime prevention, safe neighborhood or school resource officer programs.
