Investigation following shooting into Sarasota County Fire Department ambulance

Detectives with the Sarasota Police Department are continuing their investigation into a shooting that occurred Monday, January 7, 2019, at approximately 4am, where an unknown individual fired several shots at two Sarasota County Fire Department paramedics inside an ambulance in the 2900 block Goodrich Avenue, Sarasota.  There were no injuries.

Detectives have identified possible persons of interest.  No charges have been filed at this time.  This remains an active and ongoing investigation.  Detectives are following credible leads to include witness interviews and phone data collection.

Sarasota Police Detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred in the 2900 block of Goodrich Avenue, Sarasota, at approximately 4am.  Officers were dispatched to the area after the Sarasota County Fire Department (SCFD) reported being shot at during a call.

SCFD was dispatched to 2932 Goodrich Avenue, Sarasota, for an individual who had fallen.  When SCFD arrived, they were told by the resident at the address that they did not call.

When paramedics returned to their ambulance and closed the door, it was at that time an unknown person, fired several shots at the ambulance, striking the front driver's side door at least twice.  Both paramedics were able to get away safely.  No one was injured.  The unknown subject, a male last seen wearing a hoodie, fled on foot and has not been located at this time.
