Roshon Mae, Jr., 19, of Sarasota, has been arrested by the Sarasota Police Department Street Crimes Unit and is facing charges of Attempted Robbery with a Firearm.

On Thursday, March 21, 2019, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Sarasota Police Officers responded to an attempted robbery in the 1500 block of 28^th Street, Sarasota.  The juvenile victim told Officers that he and his friend were walking home.  When they reached the victim’s home, the victim told Officers he heard Mae yell his name.

When the victim and his friend contacted Mae and another individual, Mae started asking about the fanny pack the victim’s friend was wearing.  When the victim explained to Mae that the fanny pack was not his, Mae showed a handgun and pointed it at the victim and his friend and told them to empty their pockets.  The victim took off running in fear.  The victim’s friend fanny pack was forcefully taken from him.  When Officers contacted the victim’s friend later, he refused to cooperate.

Mae was arrested Friday, March 22, 2019 at approximate 6 p.m., without incident, at 2712 Noble Avenue, Sarasota.  He was transported to the Sarasota County Jail.  He’s currently being held on a $25,000 bond.
