The Sarasota Police Department, in partnership with the City of Sarasota Parks and Recreation, is inviting the community to a free community ‘Blue + You BBQ’ on Sunday August 4, 2019, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Gillespie Park, 710 North Osprey Avenue, Sarasota.  It’s an opportunity for residents to come out, grab a bite to eat and meet their local police officers.  This is a rescheduled date from earlier in the summer.

This event is the first of several community barbecues that will be held over the next year throughout the City of Sarasota.  There will be free food, juice, water, face painting, and family friendly games and prizes provided by the City of Sarasota Parks and Recreation.  There will also be police vehicles on display.  Children are encouraged to bring their school list for free school supplies (subject to availability). 

“This is an opportunity for us to connect with our community, foster relationships and build trust with those who we serve and protect every day,” said Chief Bernadette DiPino.

January 2020 – Arlington Park
April 2020 – Robert L. Taylor Community Complex
