Detectives with the Sarasota Police Department Criminal investigation Division are continuing their investigation into a body that was found in the water near the water basin of the Hyatt shortly before 9 a.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2019.  The body, which is an adult, black, male, was found by a boater who met Officers and EMS off Sunset Drive shortly after calling 911. 

The Medical Examiner’s Office has taken custody of the body to determine the cause of death.  Detectives are treating this as an unattended death investigation at this time.  Detectives are also working with the Sarasota Police Department Victim Advocate to notify next of kin.
