Officers with the Sarasota Police Department Traffic Unit are investigating a motorcycle crash that happened just after midnight, Friday, October 11, 2019.

A patrol officer was stopped, facing northbound at 10^th Street and North Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, when he witnessed a motorcycle traveling southbound on North Tamiami Trail. 

The motorcycle operator, an adult male, lost control for unknown reasons and crashed into the back of an asphalt truck that was parked in the 900 block of North Tamiami Trail.

The motorcycle operator was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with severe injuries.  The crash remains under investigation by the Sarasota Police Department Traffic Unit.
