Javaris Williams, 42, of Sarasota, has been arrested and is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop on Monday morning. Williams has nine felony convictions in the State of Florida.
Sarasota Police officers saw Williams enter a vehicle at 2000 N. Washington Blvd., Sarasota, just after 1 a.m. Monday, September 5, 2022. Officers knew Williams had an active warrant for domestic battery. Officers made a traffic stop at the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Pershing Avenue, Sarasota. While taking Williams into custody, he attempted to run from officers but was arrested.
While conducting a search of Williams, officers found a loaded Taurus G2C .9mm handgun with a round in the chamber. The handgun had a magazine loaded in the magazine well and had eleven (11) .9mm rounds. A black bag found in the vehicle had another magazine with ten (10) .9mm rounds for the handgun. Williams was arrested and transported to the Sarasota County Jail where he was being held on a $32,000 bond but has since bonded out of jail. He’s facing charges of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (felony), Carry Concealed Firearm (felony) Resist Officer without Violence (misdemeanor).
