Sarasota Police Department Investigating Traffic Fatality

Tuesday, October 25, 2022 – 1 p.m. 
The Sarasota Police Department Traffic Unit is continuing its investigation into a fatal single-vehicle crash on Monday, October 24, 2022, just before 11 a.m.  The crash happened near 9th Street and East Avenue, Sarasota.

Sarasota Police officers and detectives have reviewed video evidence.  The video shows the victim, a 23-year-old woman from Sarasota, was struck by a vehicle.  Following the crash, the woman was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where she passed away Monday afternoon due to injuries sustained.  Based on video and physical evidence, no criminal charges are being filed at this time.

The investigation remains active and ongoing by the Sarasota Police Department Traffic Unit.  Anyone with any information on this incident is asked to call 941-263-6773.

 

Monday, October 24, 2022 – 6:20 p.m.
Sarasota Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that happened just before 11 AM, Monday, October 24, 2022.  The crash happened near the intersection of 9th Street and East Avenue, Sarasota.

A woman, age 23, of Sarasota, was struck by a vehicle.  The victim was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital where she passed away Monday afternoon as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

Due to the circumstances surrounding the crash, Sarasota Police detectives, along with the Traffic Unit, responded to the scene.

At this time, evidence from the scene is being processed and reviewed.
