Arrest made in shooting near St. Armands Circle, investigation continues

CASE UPDATE (7/31/23):

The Sarasota Police Department has arrested Antonio L. Morris, 15, of Punta Gorda, in connection to the shooting that happened near St. Armands Circle last week.

The shooting happened shortly before 1 a.m. on Monday, July 24, 2023, near the intersection of Jackson Drive and South Washington Drive, Sarasota. Two adult victims were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Per F.S.S. 985.04 (2) (a) 1., information about juveniles charged with felonies is public record. Morris is facing a felony charge of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon.

The investigation continues as detectives work to determine if others were involved in this shooting. This was an isolated incident and the public is not believed to be in any danger.
